The Different Types of Online Betting

Just as in the real world, the number of ways to bet online is extraordinary. One of the most popular card games to be played online is poker, and thousands of online poker games take place every day. Poker is especially popular because it is a very social game and players will often end up in conversation with each other while playing.

Betting on sports through the internet is another way people add excitement to watching their favourite teams play. Many online bookmakers will offer a free bet when you first sign up, so this can be a good way to experiment with this form of gambling.

Online betting casinos have exploded in popularity and almost all of the games you will find in a real-world casino you will find online. Free bets are often used by online casinos in order to encourage people to sign up with them. Competition among online casinos is intense, so you will be able to find excellent sign up deals offering you a good amount of free gambling for a minimal initial deposit.

Poker Variants – Texas Hold’em

A community card poker, Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker game in tournaments and on the internet.  Despite this success, and the Texas State legislature designating Robstown as it’s place of birth in the early 20th century, its true origins are shrouded in mystery.

The game spread slowly until, in 1967, a group of Texan gamblers introduced it to the down at heel delights of the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas.  These pioneers worked hard to interest the wider card-playing public in a form of the game offering high skill levels.  For the same reason, casinos were less enthusiastic about Texas Hold’em because the higher the skill in a gambling game, the lower the house advantage.  It was not until 1983, when the World Series of Poker and Al Alvarez published “The Biggest Game in Town” that the game really took off.

The method of play sees each player dealt two cards face down before the dealer turns over five community cards face up.   Wagers are now made while three more cards are dealt face down to the players – the flop, the turn, and the river.  Players have options to check, bet, raise, or fold at each of these stages.  The game then continues as normal until a player takes the pot.

The addition of community cards and the series of deals create the opportunity for subtle strategic and tactical play rarely found in most modern gambling games. The increased complexity and skill draws in serious card players and gamblers.

Poker Players – Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov was born on 21st February 1981 in Kiev, Ukraine.  Katchalov is a hugely successful poker professional who has won over $7 million dollars in live tournaments and recorded seven-figure victories in World Poker Tour and European Poker Tour events.

Katchalov spent ten years in his native Ukraine before relocating to the United States with his family in the early 1990s.  The Brooklyn resident first took up the game in 2003 after graduating from New York University with a degree in finance and international business.  Katchalov worked as a stock trader whilst building up a significant bankroll grinding multi-table tournaments online.  He soon made the transition to the live arena and a maiden career.  Cash followed in the World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic in 2004 where he collected $47,868 for finishing in fifth place.  It would be another two years, however, before Katchalov truly arrived after winning the WPT Tour at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classic Main Event for a staggering $2.5 million jackpot.

Katchalov built on that triumph by recording five cashes and a final table finish at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in 2008.  A deep run in the $25,000 WPT World Championship preceded another impressive summer in Las Vegas where another six cashes boosted his reputation further.  Katchalov showcased his all-round game in 2010 when he posted seventh, sixth and third place finishes in the World Series of Poker Omaha Hi’Lo, No Limit Hold’em and H.O.R.S.E Championship, respectively.  The Ukrainian earned over $500,000 for those performances.

Katchalov finally won his second major live tournament title in January 2011 when he conquered a star-studded field to triumph in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (EPT) and land a $1.5 million first prize.  His remarkable achievements on the felt led him to becoming a PokerStars’ sponsored Pro later in the year.

The History of Bingo

Bingo is thought to have originated in Italy in the 16th century following the start-up of a state-run lottery.  The game was adopted by the French in the late 18th century and from there spread to most of Europe.  A game of chance, it was played and enjoyed at all levels of society.

Bingo games became popular in the UK as a fundraising tool for groups and societies, including churches, and competed effectively with beetle drives and whist, which were also popular ways of bringing people together, having some fun, raising money, and sending a few happy people home with cash or other prizes.

The success and popularity of the game led to new gambling legislation in the UK and the establishment of commercial bingo halls by top leisure industry companies including The Rank Organisation and Mecca Limited.  This again helped the game to grow in popularity, whilst also providing useful tax revenues for the government, and bingo has remained a major part of the activities that social clubs and organisations use to raise funds.

Today bingo can be played online 24 hours a day at sites such as Xbingo.com, and even online it remains a very friendly game offering excellent opportunities to chat and socialise with fellow players.

Online casinos and no cash bonuses

Since the competition between the plethora of online casinos is so fierce some offer newly signed up players no cash bonuses.  This means bonuses will be awarded without a cash bet first having to be placed.

Different UK online casinos have different ways of awarding cash free bonuses, but one way is that they offer a discount code.  This code is used to credit the gamer’s account once he or she has registered.  There may also be loyalty bonuses offered periodically – such as weekly – for gamers who regularly play in a particular casino.  Some casinos also offer further inducements to get gamers to sign up.  One way is not to require a cash deposit, which can be a financial strain for the player.  Instead he can play using a credit card.

Another variation of no cash bonuses is the offering of free casino chips.  Others will offer a set bonus or a figure based on the size of the initial deposit when signing up.  Online casinos are always eager to attract new customers and gamers can earn themselves extra no cash bonuses by referring friends and acquaintances that sign up.

For anyone looking to open their first online casino account, or looking for another one to play at, it is a good idea to gauge which no cash bonuses are available.  This can be done by visiting the various casino referral websites available on the internet.

Poker – which version will you choose?

Poker is said to have originated in New Orleans in the early 1800s, and has since migrated across the world, with many variations of its rules.  The basic principle of poker is that each player bets on the value of his hand of cards.

There are many different types of poker, each with different rules on the number of cards dealt and when betting takes place.  To begin with each player is dealt a hand of cards.  They then place bets based on the value of those cards.  As each round goes on they have the opportunity to pick up new cards or discard cards that they do not want.  A player can increase their stake if they believe their hand is likely to win.  Players may wish to ‘bluff’ in order to convince their opponents that they have a better or worse hand than they really do, which makes poker a far more strategic game than other popular casino games.

Some basic variations of the game include; stud poker, in which some cards are dealt face-down and others face-up so that players can see some of the cards of their opponents; draw poker in which the players can improve their hand by being dealt new cards, and community card poker, which includes Texas hold’em poker where some of the cards are placed in the centre of the table for any player to pick up.

Poker can be played via a number of different mediums.  Primarily it can be played at casinos.  There are also a number of national and international poker championships across the world in which the very best players compete, not only for money but also for titles as poker champions.  It is also incredibly popular to play poker remotely, for example online.  Some websites specialise in poker, whilst others, known as online casinos, offer poker games amongst other table games such as blackjack and roulette.  Poker can also be played via mobile telephones by downloading apps and using the phone’s wireless internet connection.  Television gambling shows also provide opportunities to get involved in live poker games from home.

Rules of Blackjack Explained

Blackjack games account for a significant number of card games played online, second only to poker. This popularity is, in part, due to the simplicity of its rules, which are easy for the novice to pick up.

The objective of blackjack games is to have a hand that scores as close as possible to 21 without going over. The cards 2-10 take their nominal value, face cards score ten, and aces can be taken as one or eleven depending on what suits their context. The best hand is a blackjack, which is an ace and a face card, and it normally pays out at odds of 3 to 2 for the winner.

To begin with, players make an initial bet and are then dealt two cards visible only to them. The dealer then deals himself one card face up and another one face down. The player then has the option of doubling down, that is to say, doubling their bet if they are confident of winning after seeing their cards. Then the player must decide if they want to hit and accept another card, or stay and end their turn. If their initial cards are the same, the player can also split. Their original cards form the basis for two new hands, and two more cards are dealt to them. Once all players have had their turn, the dealer turns over their hand and takes a hit until they score 17 or over. If the dealer goes bust, all remaining players win at even odds. Otherwise, a comparison of scores is made to determine the winner.

Online Gambling Just Keeps on Growing

Online gambling has become more and more popular each year since the advent of the Internet.  Wireless technology, in particular, has made Internet devices more portable.  An increasing number of people have access to the internet through a range of technology, from mobile phones and laptops, to tablet computers, which means that online gaming sites are more accessible to the general public than ever before.  Traditional casino-goers can now play the same betting games, for the same stakes as they would in a casino, from the comfort of their own home.  Internet gambling has also become ever more popular as more online gaming sites are legal and licensed, and with improved software and graphics gamers can have a very realistic gambling experience online.

As well as online casinos in which people have access to the same games as they would in a real casino, there are other types of online gambling.  These include, poker games – either against computerised opponents or real opponents who are playing from their computers – and other games, such as football pools, online lotteries, online bingo and online sports betting.

There are two types of online casino.  The first is the download-based online casino, where players are required to download software onto their device to allow them to start gaming.  The second is the web-based casino, where users play betting games on a website designed to look like a casino.

Research has estimated that the total sum wagered worldwide on mobile casino games is expected to surpass US$48 billion by 2015.  The same research based its prediction on the growth of online gambling on increased usage of mobile casinos, lotteries and sports betting providers in major emerging markets and China, the slackening of mobile gambling legislation in Europe, and the United States repealing certain legislation which will allow people in the U.S.A. to legally gamble online.

The Keno Game

Keno is an ancient Chinese lottery game with name derived from the Latin for five each – quini.  Legend has Keno paying for the Great Wall of China and saving a city, even though lotteries were not legalised in China until late in the 19th century.  What can be safely claimed is that Keno travelled across the Pacific to California with the Chinese labourers who built the railroads.  The United States took to the game avidly.  Nowadays, Keno is frequently offered in casinos, forms the basic mechanism of many state lotteries, and has been adapted through random number generators as an online activity.

The keno mechanism is a glass bowl containing balls numbered one through to 80, with a blower to agitate them.  Upon the pull of a lever, 20 balls fall into a V-shaped tube.  Players purchase cards of 80 numbered boxes, and mark 20 choices.  Keno games in casinos and other gambling outlets vary in style and detail, and there might be 20 or 30 different tables to play in any one place.

The bet is that balls and selected numbers match.  Winning cards are checked and verified with the keno computer to certify the winners.  The winnings are calculated on the odds of a player matching a given number of balls, in sequence or pattern, against the total monies wagered minus the house edge (typically 4-35%).  The probability of a player matching all 20 balls on a 20 spot ticket is approximately 1 in 3.5 quintillion.  The odds of matching five are 23%.

Best Time to Play Bingo

When players are looking for Bingo entertainment, choosing the right time to play can be beneficial. Many players are looking for that big win and, if this is the case, they should look for games that are held at night or on the weekend. This is the time when more players will be playing, and when a Bingo game attracts large numbers of players the payouts are often much higher.

However, it may be difficult to find an available Bingo room during these peak times. By checking some of the great Bingo sites that are provided at the Golden Bingo website, players will be able to find many available Bingo sites. These sites will usually have a large number of rooms, and will often have available spots for players looking for the big cash wins that can occur on the weekend.

For players who are looking to simply enjoy the game and chat with other players, playing during the weekdays would be better. The rooms will be less crowded and, while the payouts are smaller, there could be a better chance of winning.
